The new AirPods 3 offer spatial audio, industry-leading audio quality, longer battery life and a revamped design.
Apple today announced the third generation of AirPods, with spatial audio, advanced features, a magical listening experience and a new streamlined design.
Thanks to the power of the H1 chip coupled with an Apple-designed sound system, the new AirPods 3 use computational audio to deliver incredible sound with adaptive equalization. Every user can enjoy spatial audio with Dolby Atmos on Apple Music, in movies and TV series, and benefit from dynamic head position detection, on all Apple devices.
In addition to being resistant to sweat and water, the new AirPods 3 have a pressure sensor to manage calls and music playback in a simple and intuitive way. They have greater autonomy and offer up to six hours of listening and up to 30 hours of total listening with the convenient charging case. Third-generation AirPods are now part of the world’s most popular earphone family; can be ordered starting today and will be available for purchase in stores from Tuesday 26 October.
“AirPods have forever changed the concept of wireless headphones with innovative design, incredible audio quality and magical experience,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. We are very excited to launch a new generation of AirPods, which offer unsurpassed audio quality, thanks to adaptive equalization and spatial audio with dynamic head position detection, and they work perfectly with other Apple devices, making even better sounds. best-selling earphones in the world. “
AirPods 3 – Totally new design
The new design of the AirPods is light and tapered, with the perfect angle for comfort and to direct sound into the ear canal. To give the design a slimmer look, the bottom of the earbuds have been made shorter than the previous generation and the same intuitive pressure sensor found on the AirPods Pro has been used to manage playback. The new AirPods are sweat and water-resistant – both the charging case and the earbuds have an IPX4-grade resistance.
Revolutionary audio functions
The AirPods (3rd generation) further enhance the already incredible audio quality that AirPods are known for, thanks to a custom-designed driver and high dynamic range amplifier that, together, are capable of generating deep bass and clear high frequencies and crystalline. The microphone is coated with an acoustic mesh that reduces wind noise, so the speaker’s voice is clearly heard during calls. The AirPods also make use of AAC-ELD, a superior voice codec that delivers high-definition voice quality for clearer, more natural FaceTime calls.
The new AirPods use computational audio to offer even more people the same advanced experience offered by the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, such as adaptive equalization and spatial audio with dynamic head position detection.
To ensure an optimal and detailed listening experience, the new AirPods use adaptive equalization to adjust the sound in real-time based on the fit of the earphones to the user’s ears. The inward-facing microphone picks up sound and adaptive equalization, made possible by computational audio, adjusts the low and mid frequencies to compensate for what may be lost based on how they fit the earphones in the ears varies.
L ‘ sound space creates a three-dimensional experience similar to the effect of the surround cinema, placing the sound virtually anywhere in space, and, thanks to Dolby Atmos, offers by far the best quality ever had on AirPods. The user can also take advantage of this multi-layered experience with dynamic head position tracking, so music, video and even FaceTime group calls will be more engaging than ever. The new AirPods are able to offer enveloping audio thanks to advanced spatial audio algorithms and applying directional audio filters to precisely adjust the frequencies received by each ear.
AirPods 3, Magical experience
Thanks to the one-touch configuration, the AirPods are automatically paired with other Apple devices, so the user can listen to their music all day with maximum convenience. Audio Sharing allows you to share streaming audio between two pairs of AirPods, AirPods Pro or AirPods Max while using iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple TV.
A new skin-sensing sensor is able to tell when AirPods are being worn and when they are placed in a pocket or placed on a surface and stops playback accordingly. Beamforming microphones block out ambient noise and focus on the speaker’s voice, contributing to clarity of sound; the user can also control hands-free music playback by saying “Hey Siri” for his requests.
In the third generation AirPods, the battery lasts an hour longer than previous generations, offering up to six hours of listening time and up to four hours of talk time. With just five minutes of charging the user gets about an hour of battery life, and with four more charges in the case, the listening time can be up to 30 hours. Now even the AirPods become part of the MagSafe ecosystem and can be conveniently charged wirelessly.
AirPods with iOS and iPadOS
In addition to being comfortable to wear and offering exceptional sound quality, AirPods allow you to use the following features when paired with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 devices:
- Thanks to spatial audio and dynamic head position detection, voice appears to come directly from where the speaker is on the screen during FaceTime group calls, giving the impression of being in the same room.
- The “Read notifications aloud” function allows Siri to read important and urgent notifications, such as those of Messages, Reminders, Calendar and calls, but also notifications from non-Apple apps that use the API.
- AirPods are now part of the Where’s network of hundreds of millions of iPhones, iPads and Macs around the world, so you can locate them in the Find My app and Lost Mode, and receive sound alerts and notifications in case of separation.
Apple and the environment
AirPods are designed with materials and features that reduce their environmental impact, such as magnets that use 100% recycled rare earth. The case uses 100% recycled tin for the logic board soldering, and 100% recycled aluminium in the hinges. The AirPods are also completely free of potentially dangerous substances such as mercury, BFR, PVC and beryllium. AirPods meet federal energy-saving standards for chargers set by the US Department of Energy.
Apple’s Zero Waste program helps suppliers eliminate landfill waste, and all final assembly plants are switching to 100% renewable energy for Apple manufacturing. 100% of the virgin wood fibres used in packaging come from sustainably managed forests.
